Pivot/Shift: How the Hip Impacts the Lower Extremities

Date: Saturday, Feb 25, 2012; 12 PM – 3 PM

Pathology and muscle imbalance of the hip can affect the dysfunctions seen in the knee and foot. This workshop is geared to rehabilitation and post rehabilitation specialists and will present interventions to restore function the hip and lower extremities. A mat class will be taught incorporating therapeutic movements that will address many of the dysfunctions discussed. 


 

 The Key to the Neck: Unlocking the Thoracic Spine

Date: Saturday, Feb 25, 2012; 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Location: Body Dynamics

Cost: $99

Many head and neck dysfunctions including headaches, degenerative diseases and postural deficits are influenced by the upper thoracic spine. This workshop is geared toward rehabilitation and post rehabilitation specialists and will present interventions to restore function to the cervical thoracic complex.  A mat class that will address dysfunctions discussed.

 

Lise Stolze earned her master’s degree in physical therapy (MPT) IN 1993 AND her Doctor of Science (DSc) in 2011. She serves as an affiliate faculty member at the Regis University and is an educator and examiner for Polestar Pilates Education. She is certified through the Pilates Method Alliance and Gyrotonic Expansion System. She has recently completed her research study on lower back pain and Pilates, and submitted it for publication in a peer reviewed physical therapy journal.

Posture for the Future

Ever wonder how to find perfect posture? Do you line up the bones and still something doesn’t feel right? Do you start with the pelvis, the spine or the feet? Learn a few simple techniques from Paul Hodges to Ron Fletcher to get into your best postural alignment! We will also do lots of postural correction exercises for the forward head, rounded shoulders, slumped spines, sagging pelvis, excessive thoracic kyphosis or lumbar lordosis using Pilates small apparatus. This workshop is geared to all student levels from Pilates and Fitness enthusiasts to rehabilitation specialists.

Sherri Betz is the Founder of Therapilates Physical Therapy, Pilates and Gyrotonic Clinic in Santa Cruz California. Sherri was the Vice President of the Pilates Method Alliance and served on the PMA Board of Directors from 2003-2009. Betz is an Educator and Examiner for Polestar Pilates Educations. A Geriatric Clinical Specialist, certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and Exercise Expert for Aging Adults, she has recently published Osteoporosis Exercise Book: Building Better Bones, 2ND Edition with the integration of Pilates and Physical Therapy principles and exercise modifications for those at risk for a fracture.
